An 85-year-old great-grandmother has made history as the oldest person to scale Mt. Kilimanjaro.
“I’ve wanted to do it for a long time,” Anne Lorimore of Paradise Valley, Ariz., said in June, according to KPHO. “My neice and nephew were doing it, and I said, ‘Please, I want to go,’ and they said yes. So I put it down on my bucket list that by 2015, I was climbing Kilimanjaro.”
Lorimore’s trip wasn’t easy: she came down with the flu by the fourth day of the climb. But Lorimore trudged on, and was successful in not only reaching the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, but also raising money for the charity she founded for underprivileged children, Challenge Youth Fund.
